Regulation of cell division

This Promotionskollegs is formed by six research groups with strong interests in regulation of cell division. The groups analyze regulatory mechanisms of cell cycle (sumoylation, dephosphorylation, checkpoints) and central events in cell division (spindle assembly, centromere assembly). A hallmark of the Promotionskolleg is the broad spectrum of model systems (budding yeast, medaka and zebrafish, human tissue culture cells, Drosophila melanogaster, Xenopus laevis), which enables PhD students to test mechanisms of cell division for conservation and their role during development. The goal of the Promotionskollegs is to offer an excellent education in regulation of cell division that goes beyond the abilities of a single laboratory.

This first meeting will bring together the newly recruited students of the Promotionskolleg with their peer students as well as with more advanced students and the P.Is. We will discuss the initial progress of the projects and seek out ideal collaboration opportunities.
