The intergenerational transmission of childhood adversity

The symposium will be jointly organized by experts from three Israeli and four German universities. The aim of the symposium is to bring together Israeli and German PhD students and postdocs from medical, psychological and biological sciences with senior researchers and scholars from a range of different fields for a week of intensive interdisciplinary communication. The main focus of the program will lie on encouragement of discussions and exchange of ideas about research topics targeting the intergenerational transmission of childhood adversity across countries, disciplinary boundaries and between senior and junior researchers. Each day during the symposium senior researchers from Israel and Germany as well as invited international speakers will give talks addressing the different topics of the program. Junior researchers will be actively involved throughout the program in the form of discussion sessions, a workshop on fund raising and finally the presentation and discussion of own ideas. The overall purpose of the workshop is to launch new international collaborations. Throughout the symposium, young researchers will be encouraged to form new teams comprising Israeli and German senior and junior researchers who are supposed to develop new research questions on the intergenerational transmission of childhood adversity and to start new international projects.
